Pangasius reaches price peak for 2nd time this year

Pangasius material price exceeds 15 000 đ/kg In the past few days, pangasius material price in An Giang and Can Tho province has increased by VND 500- 800/kg (5%). In An Giang, pond white meat pangasius price ranges from VND 14.800 /kg, to VND 15.300/kg, Yellow meat: VND 12.800-13.200 /kg. This is the second time Pangasius price reaches its peak in the Mekong delta in 2006. Some exporters and factories have canceled the contracts they signed few weeks ago while price was still stable. Meanwhile, some other expoters are forced to purchase the fish at any price in order to fulfill their delivery commitment for Christmas and Newyear in Europe.

(My personal prediction is that the price fever will soon fade next week and price will stabilize again at the level of VND 14,5oo/kg.)

Updated note: I was wrong about this, the disease make supply shortest than ever and caused the third price soar in 2006 in December 2006.
